Lavender

“True” lavender or “fine” lavender:

Lavandula vera, lavandula officinalis or lavandula angustifolia, all latin names that emphasize the presence of lavender in the medicinal use (officinalis) and its morphological aspects (angustifolia = of narrow leaves).

Lavandula vera is made of clumps or bushes. The flower scape is short without branches. The flower head can have different shapes or colours. That is why the term “population angustifolia lavender” might be used.

Fine lavender is resistant to the cold and its favourite soil lies from 800 metres to 1400 metres of altitude.
